My name is Liz Porter and I am an Abstract Expressionist artist working from my studio in Bude, Cornwall. Since I was a child, I have experienced colours when I listen to music. Through my painting I visually represent those colours and the emotional response I experience when listening to a piece of music. I work intuitively, exploring the combination of beat, lyrics, voice, melody and harmony of a piece of music, while working gesturally in bold colour palettes. I work mainly with mixed media on calico and canvas. I rarely use a paintbrush preferring to move paint with pieces of wood or my hands, layering the paint as the music plays creating a flow and energy to my work.
